Mirror, silver leaf, and grout with hand-built wood frame
28 ½ × 39 ½ × 3 in.
This piece reflects the fractal geometry found in nature, inspired by Mount Shuksan in the Pacific Northwest. A broken mirror, puzzled together and outlined in silver leaf to highlight the mountain’s silhouette. The cracks evoke river paths, echoing patterns found in lightning, tree branches, and landscapes. The work explores how destruction shapes creation and how seemingly chaotic forms reflect mathematical precision.
Hanging Instructions:
A hand-built wood French cleat is included as part of the piece for secure, long-term mounting.
How to hang using the included French cleat:
-
Locate wall studs if possible for maximum support.
-
Level and securely mount the provided wall cleat where you want the piece to hang.
-
Once the wall cleat is installed, lift the piece and rest the back cleat onto the wall cleat so they interlock.
-
For drywall, use appropriate anchors to ensure the cleat can hold the piece’s weight.
Suggested tools:
