Mirror, grout, 24k gold leaf
30 ¾ × 77 1/8 in.
I see myself in you explores reflection as both a literal and metaphorical experience. Fractured mirror shards are pieced together with grout and delicate 24k gold leaf, referencing the Japanese art of kintsugi — the practice of repairing what’s broken with precious metals. The work invites viewers to see themselves within the imperfect lines and luminous seams, contemplating how our fractures connect us, mend us, and make us whole. It speaks to shared identity, vulnerability, and the beauty found in imperfection.
Hanging Instructions:
Two keyholes are built into the back of the metal frame for secure wall mounting.
How to hang using the built-in keyholes:
-
Place painter’s tape across the keyholes and mark their positions.
-
Remove the tape and position it on the wall where you want the piece to hang. Make sure it’s level.
-
Drill or hammer nails/screws into the marked spots, leaving about ¼ inch exposed to fit into the keyholes.
-
If your wall is drywall, use wall anchors for additional stability.
Suggested tools:
